Ghosts of the Civil War book, I am not sure that "Ghosts of the Civil War" Ghosts of the Civil War book as an introductory book for young readers, and that they really need to know a little something about the subject to get the most out of this interesting volume.
Harness' goal is to make the people of the Civil War seem a bit more like real people, and to Ghosts of the Civil War book this by filling the /5(6). The book gives histories of places, events and even architecture give background behind each incident. The book is set up well to use as a reference/5. Ghosts and Haunts of the Civil War was the first--and still the best--guide to true paranormal phenomena relating to the Civil War in general.
While the original edition is in need of some updating, I have been posting relevant current information relating to many chapters of this book on my blog, The Late Unpleasantness/5(12). Although this book is a great read on its own, as Newman does a fantastic job of going over the battle or skirmish,it also would be great as a field guide if you like hunting for ghosts and exploring civil war battlefields.
I recommend this book to anyone with any slight interest in the Civil War and the paranormal/5(7). The title of the book "Civil War Ghosts" is, therefore, sadly misleading.
In addition, the book contains accounts of the same strange event but drawn from several different newspapers so, in parts, the book is very repetitive and a bit tedious to read/5(3).
